Musées

• Le pays compte tellement de musées qu'il est difficile d'en choisir. Voici quelques Musées de Rome.
  
• National Gallery of Modern Art Extension : (Art Moderne)   
  In 1995 the Soprintendenza Speciale Arte Contemporanea began its functional rearrangement and restoration programme of the National Gallery of Modern Art. Over the past four years the entire nineteenth century collection has been re-hung and opened to the public, while the entire twentieth century collection will once again be visible by the end of 1999. Within this framework, the competition for the extension originally designed by Luigi Cosenza is aimed at completing a project that dates back to the mid-fifties. This will be done by maintaining the aspects of the original design that are still valid, as well as by reorganizing the unfinished parts and enlarging the Gallery's structure as a unified museum complex.
  
• Museo Nazionale delle Arti e Tradizioni Popolari : (Art Populaire)  
  In linea con la tradizione natalizia di realizzare plasticamente la Natività con la scenografia della nascita di Gesù, che si riallaccia all'origine delle sacre rappresentazioni e dei misteri medievali, il Museo Nazionale delle Arti e Tradizioni Popolari (MAT) inaugurerà il 19 dicembre prossimo alle ore 18.00 un'esposizione sul Presepe popolare e, in particolare, sulla collezione di pastori napoletani del ‘700 e dell'‘800 conservati nel Museo Nazionale.
  
• Musei Vaticani : (Musée du Vatican)  
  The founding of the Vatican Museums can be traced back to 1503 when the newly-elected Pope, Julius II della Rovere, placed a statue of Apollo in the internal courtyard of the Belvedere Palace built by Innocent VIII; he brought the statue from the garden of his titular church of St. Peter in Chains. In 1506 the Laocoon was added to the collection, after its discovery on the Esquiline Hill before the eyes of Giuliano di Sangallo and Michelangelo Buonarroti.
